We all want to look into the mind of genius charismatic villains. It's usually in their childhood, that tragic story that roots their disease, it makes us sympathize with them. The Joker already told his terrible tale, how his father made him 'smile'...it makes him a bit human to us. However, the darkness inside the Joker puzzles us all.
I would love to see the stages of the Joker's transformation from the very beginning. He must have had a name one day, a real face and a heart. How was he like as a 'good' person? Becoming the deranged monster that he is in the dark knight might have been a painful process. Or maybe it just occurred to him one day, to kill people and steal the soul of Gotham. In my opinion, recasting the Joker is too difficult, except if Nolan shows him in earlier years played by different younger actors...That character didn't die with Heath Ledger, but the Joker in the TDK is irreplaceable. I wouldn't wish for an entire batman film about the Joker's origin, but bringing that prospect in the spotlight would be great. |

What you're asking for is a complicated endeavor. Sure, NAG could take on Joker's origin or even a full on young Joker film. I'll admit they're both attractive premises. But, it can get pretty messy mostly because of The Joker character itself. Even in comics, the closest anyone ever came to a Joker origin was in The Killing Joke. Since then, writers of Batman and Joker have aimed to portray Joker's memory (therefore, also any of his flashbacks or recollections) as shotty and too insane to rely on as fact. The Killing Joke is one of the most popular Batman stories of all time and it's Joker origin isn't considered fact today. So, quite a task you're asking for. I wouldn't hold my breath for it.
BTW, Joker gave two scar origins in TDK. Doesn't give much credence to his first to then put just as much emotional investment in his second.

Well Nolan follows no rules in his creativity. He can craft an original back story for the Joker, it will be his imagination. And you're right the Joker doesn't remember all too well, but maybe other people who met him at different stages of his life can tell the story. It needs masterful writing and a well-crafted plot, I agree. But I think Nolan can do it. It could be a memorable achievement.

Heath Ledger was an amazing joker. I just hope in the next batman film, we get a person acting that is just as memorable. RIP Heath Ledger. To this day miss the guy.
