In the Batman Film, what type of gun does The Joker use when he is shooting at Batmans BatPlane?

The gun is a modified Colt Revolver, with a very very long barrel, the gun would not have been able to shoot down the plane, as the barrel would increase accuracy of the shot, but also slow the bullet down due to the increase in friction.

What do you think about that scene? Did you laugh when Joker pulled the gun from his pants?

I laughed when I first saw it.

I thought it was quite comical looking back, when i watched the movie for the first time i was amazed by the gun (I was young when it was released)

It was halarious when he pulled it out of his pants....though it looks more like what his "bang" gun should look like, than the one he shoots down the plane with

I never think on it so deeper before :D

That part was funny, but I personally liked the "Never Rub Another Man's Rubarb" part.

are you sure that's a colt revolver?
The handle of it is clearly shown when he's about to pull it out and it looks like a Smith and Wesson Model 29 or something similar.

Colt Revolver. With an extra long barrel

Sorry to necro this thread. But it's not a Colt it's definitely a Smith & Wesson. Schofield or something similar.

If you look on page 81 of the Batman Official Movie Book by John Marriott you can see that it's not a Schofield...

It's actually Smith & Wesson Model 15-3 with a 20+ inch barrel. It's only got black synthetic grips instead of the wooden handle. It's actually the same kind of gun that Shreck uses to shoot Catwoman repeatedly with in Batman Returns.

I'm not a gun nut, so I don't know what it was, refer to the first reply, but I love the comical effect of the scene, Jack Nicholson is amazing as The Joker.

Interesting. I remember watching this in the movie at age 13 and wondering if the gun would actually be able to fire, and if the long barrel would make it powerful enough to knock out a small, low-flying plane's engine. 22 years later I get the answer, lol.
