"Welcome to the world that The Joker has always envisioned, an institution where anarchy and chaos thrives, as the optimistic identity of mankind falters in such an insidious environment, insanity is the only exit to escape the premises of random injustice that society has inflicted.

The Plot
The timeline of the recently released Hollywood movie “The Dark knight” suits the emissary of dementia, as Gotham City is coming to grip with the multitude of criminal activities with the aid of the Bruce Wayne’s alter ego. Somewhere a desperate wannabe standup comedian loses his ability to communicate with humanity and divulges to a path where sarcasm and cynicism bring out the long road which leads to the labyrinth of insanity. The Joker is born out of hatred and is set out to change the basic rules on which society functions and operates. His goal is to unleash man’s baser instincts. The arsenal in accomplishing this arduous feat is feasting on the morals on which mankind is based on, by torturing them into insanity."

The game looks decent overall, but I can't help but think that the origins of the Joker is kind of lame. The film set it up to be mysterious with the jail scene - i.e. no tags on his clothes, no name, no relatives and no friends. Portraying the Joker as just a failed stand up comedian puts a history to him which kinds of detracts from the psychotic, mysterious Joker we see in the film.

I never really got The Killing Joke. It had a couple of fantastic bits, but the story of the joker's origin wasn't handled well. The saving grace was the line "If i'm going to have a history, i want it to be multiple choice!", whcih gave hope that we were seeing just one possiblity. This is echoed in Dark Knight, with the changing story about his scars.

As for the videogame, its a decent idea. I think most would rather play as Joker, but then its difficult to give a gamer the sort of free reign the Joker enjoys without the game becoming stale.

Your best bet is Arkham Asylum, out next year. It is rumoured that you can play as Joker, if you complete the game.
