He may have been a good riddler, but if you dont think so tell me who you would have used to play him.

I just didn't like the look of him. It wasn't Jim Carrey, it was the way the character looked. Also he was crazy to the extreme. Too much for me. That's just my opinion

I thought Jim Carrey was an awesome Riddler. But, yeah, he was more crazy than evil and clever. The craziness could've been toned down just a bit, but other than that, I thought the character was great, except for the hair...lol. I always pictured him with brown hair, not red...

Looking back at what Burton left them to work wit, I'm surprised they made him as entertaining and loyal (while flawed) as they did. In the future, there are a few people I wouldn't mind to see as Riddler: Steve Buscemi, Bill Fichtner (the bank manager in TDK), even Johnny Depp (despite all the hype). There is only one man however I feel IS as much Riddler as Patrick Stewart IS Charles Xavier and Christopher Reeve WAS Superman...

Michael Emerson.

No question.

i do like batman forever a lot (for what it is...a fun light-hearted take on batman)...and i think jim carrey was a good choice for that particular movie...however now that i've seen the 2 latest batman movies they make him look like a joke. what is so great about heath ledger's joker is that you actually fear him and find him creepy (at least i sure did...some scenes i actually felt nervous). what chris nolan does so well is make you fear or dislike the villains in the 2 movies...

in batman forever you kind of find the riddler fun and in a way sort of an innocent character. he's so playful that you forget he's a bad guy. would love to see a riddler in a chris nolan batman movie...i bet he could be incredibly menacing and creepy and scary.

I'd like to see David Tennant as The Riddler. He'd be great at playing a darker and more menacing version of him, while at the same time he could be funny and joking. He also looks more of the type to be The Riddler.

I've heard Tennant's name around for The Riddler in some circles. I've never seen him in action, so I can't say. Which of his roles do you think I should I check out first? What do you think of Emerson? So far, I'm pretty stubborn about him being the next Riddler. We'll see if CN even uses the character to begin with.

kept seeing you mention emerson and i wasn't clear on who he was...then i looked up his name and all i saw was Lost and i knew EXACTLY who it was before even looking any further. he would be pretty excellent. but i do think that if the character is used he could be a bit more menacing and creepier. i think the riddler has potential of being even crazier than the joker.

i saw something quite interesting on the history channel about the villains of batman. one of the most interesting ones was the riddler. in his spot, someone mentioned that the riddler was very much like the zodiac killer. what makes him like the zodiac is that he's very cocky and leaves clues (riddles) as to who he is. the only thing is people receive his clues or letters when it's to late. i thought it was a very interesting take on the character. anyone who has ever seen anything on the zodiac knows that he is one of the CREEPIEST killers that ever lived. some of the stories about him and his killings give you chills down your spine just listening to them.

i don't know, however, how that character would fit into the story that chris nolan has already begun. but done properly, it could be really cool.

I liked jim carrey as the riddler myself, at least to an extent. Those movies were just too fake. The original batman was great and jack did a great job, but it even borderlined on the too fake theme. I believe that was burtons intention as with all his movies so it was what was intended.

I love nolans style much more, and pobably most others do too. Johnny depp as the riddler would probably work, although I think he would have made an awesome joker in tdk as well. (ledger was awesome) I just think if Johnny depp played the riddler it would seem an awful lot like the joker. Its his manurisms but It probably would still work.

I think its hard for most actors to fail under the direction of nolan though, so Im sure anyone will work. (I definitely didn't picture ledger in that role but he was awesome.)

Jim Carey is the coolest villain i ever watched. He has a great talent in every role he play.Of course, other actors who portray being riddler are also great. They always made batman exciting as it can be.

Though I wouldn't want him to reprise his role as the Riddler in The new Batman film...

I mean I sorta screwed his chance up to be a good Riddler. He was more Jim Carrey than he was Riddler in the film. He did Jim Carrey things, said Jim Carrey things... you have to think back to the 90's. Ace Ventura was IN, The Mask was IN, Jim Carrey was IN. So in the end adding Jim Carrey to the Batman film was a marketing ploy to attract viewers to go watch the movie.

In my opinion I've been reading the rumors lately and am anticipating Joseph Gordon-Levitt to take on the role of the Riddler in Nolan's next film.

I'd want Carey as the Riddler once again. I think Jim can be an awesome actor if the Director is controlling him.

Jim Carey unleashed is just a horrid mess :S

He was decent but he's no Frank Gorshwin or John Glover
