Saw Ironman the other day and what a great movie. When they showed the previews for the Dark Knight, I expected to start slobbering but didn't:( The movie seems "too dark" if thats possible. Anyone thinking the same thing or is it just me? I mean there is no way I could take my 7 year old to see that and not expect nightmares.

well, it is called THE DARK knight haha, but Batman has always been a dark and gritty movie. Batman Begins was the same too, the Scarecrow wasnt exactly the most child friendly character.

i think it should b dark. we've got iron man, spiderman, superman, the not-so-fantastic 4, hulk, etc, etc if we want lighthearted and child friendly. why shouldnt we have at least 1 dark comic book franchise?

I remember growing up with the Burtons Batman. They weren't too scary, in fact when i was like 4 or 5 I went to the movie theatres and the movie Hercules just came out and it was much more violent then Batman but the darkness made batman PG13 and hercules G. i totally saw Batman though,.

I would say batman is never too dark, and he will appreciate the new movies more if he saw the older batmans which were lighter like Adam West and stuff (I still remember the old on the helicopter ladder seen with the sharks that was hilarious). I know I appreciated all of the small details in the Dark Knight more than most people I know that haven't seen any other batmans besides batman Begins.

It isn't too dark though. I mean, I did not notice many violent parts in it actually (I mean besides stuff like fighting and the pencil trick, it didn't seem very violent too me anyways).

batman has always been dark and evil twisted story about a beyond saving point gotham that needs a hero just as evil twisted and conspired as its villians. through the 80's films and the cheesy tv series batman has gotton much brighter. children see batman as the great hero that saves the day from all the nasty people and helps the police and nobody dies and everything has a happy ending. the cartoons the old films and old tv series have made batman a softer and more easy going character. christopher noble wanted batman where he should be. he made his films so twisted and dark. it was packed with betrayal hatred and death. the experiance of the movie was to wash away your vision that a caped crusader will be loved everywhere and everyone will help him. it brings so much modernisation of choices and your choice will be turned upside down. it is arguable that the movie does not fit into age ratings as such and that its is dark very dark indeed. however the movie was to make the batman he is supposed to be.

ok lets put it a simple way the dark knight and batman begins is not made for you people who remember the burton/keaton movies or any other batmans of years passed it is for us veteran fans of the batman comics who know how dark and gritty batman should be and can remember the best stories of batman like year one,the long halloween and the man who falls which the new batman movies are loosely based on.

The Dark Knight was the best film I have seen in a long time. For the first time in ages I became oblivious to my surroundings and I got into the film.
Heath Ledger played a good Joker and although I feel disloyal to Jack Nicolson I was glad that I decided to go to see it at the cinema rather than wait for it on DVD.
It was dark but that was part of the brilliance of it.
I would recommend it to anyone.:p

I don't get why people complain about villians being too "dark" or violent. They're friggin' villians!

I thought Heath Ledger made a brilliant joker, shame he had to die.

I have seen the dark knight twice now, once in the normal cinema and the other time in a i-max and I would recommend that everyone see it in a i-max cinema it makes the movie 10 times better.

I wonder if they'll release the IMAX version with the theatrical when it comes on dvd like they did with Apollo 13. Totally different movie I know, just saying....

now that would be cool.

Problem would be they are like television versions of a movie, they take out the best parts because some people just don't like reality because they're afraid, but they'll read it with no problem...and people say nobody reads anymore.

It's not too dark at all. There are plenty lighter moments to the movie. There's been much worse in real life. The movie was perfect.

I'm sick of all the movies revolving around the children. Give them a couple years, and they'll grow up and be wanting the same thing as us: dark Batman movies. Honestly, if you are complaining about The Dark Knight being too dark after it finally recovered from Batman & Robin in 1997, then your not a fan.

I don't think the movie is "dark" at all. Honestly, with kids being exposed to violent movies and tv shows everyday, this movie is nothing compared to them.

Dark Knight too Dark?

No. Because I love it dark. The darker the better.

batman was always suposed to be dark. if you thought adam west was the best batman you must be really old and nuts cause he was as Jake Gylinhal (or how ever you spell his name) in Brokeback Mountain.
