what is the best thing and what is your favourite scene? my favourite scene is our intro to batman when he fights a load of the penguins gang and saves selina kyle and the best thing about batman returns is catwoman in the tight rubber outfit.:)

we are all batman fans here and 95% of us know what happened in batman returns and iwas asking what everybodys fav scene was not for a what happens in batman returns.

I enjoy the setting. I think winter/Christmas is excellent for a Batman film.

This installment was 2nd WORST of the Burton/Schumaker saga (4-2-3-1). I know it's easy to be negative about things but sometimes constructive criticism can seem that way. It was a "fun" movie for sure. And, if Batman never existed before or after this film, it probably would've been a Tim Burton marvel to be praised for ages; no kidding. The umbrellas kicked ass, too. Unfortunately, this film is one of the biggest betrayals in comic book history. Here's a brief list of serious disloyalties:

-1- Catwoman actually has nine lives now? Wow.
-2- The Batmobile has machine guns in it which Batman uses to kill a few guys. No good.
-3- Penguin is now a freakish, half-penguin monster from the sewers. Silly.
-4- Penguin is now a complete idiot with no business savvy of his own. What's the point?
-5- Penguin successfully talks to penguins and they do his bidding. Wow, again.
-6- Catwoman goes crazy, commits crime for the hell of it, and fights Batman just cuz'. She's SUPPOSED to be a catburglar with a big thing for cats and her own unique rules of survival and freedom, right and wrong.
-7- Max Shrek comes off much more like the real Penguin character than Penguin is. Penguin became a silly puppet. It should've been the other way around, if at all.
-8- Batman's suits is STILL made out of a rediculous rubber that not only limits his his ability to move and perspire comfortably (which is pretty important when you're supposed to be ninja-like), but also doesn't hold any credibility as significant body armor, especially against bullets and explosions. Try it sometime.
-9- After tangling with Catwoman on a rooftop, Batman reveals some mechanical winged contraption which is supposed to help him glide away. Looked cool enough, but doesn't make any practical sense. Should I believe that he walks, runs, fights, and drives with that machinery on him?
-10- Penguins minions are a bunch of circus freaks with no explanation or motivation whatsoever. Alternatively, they ought to have been an eccentric variety of lawyers and muscle.

Yes, this would've drastically changed the film and who am I to say anything, right? But, it's our ability as readers and viewers to search out and appreciate the credibility, believability, and coolness in our choice of entertainment as well as their negative counterparts, especially when it concerns beloved stories and characters. In the future, far better care should be taken in how these artists inevitably reinterpret the very art we already love. (i.e. The next Penguin - under Nolan or Miller, played by Giamatti or Hoffman - better ANNIHILATE that ass!)

Anton Furst was THE BEST THING in the Movie. Period.
His designs will live forever.
I am obssessed with the car.....(mid life crisis?)
So that said..

The fact that JO shaved 4" off the Rear Fenders of the Batmobile (for transortation purposes) and that he put 'windshield wipers' on a Batmobile! (plus he never got credited in the movie for ANY WORK ON THE CAR).
Go figure?

I think some of the best parts of Batman Returns were the visuals. I love the costumes and statues. However the fanboy in me says the absolute best part of the movie is the very hot Catwoman!!!

The best thing is Catwoman's way of fighting Batman, fierce and sensual at the same time. My favourite scene is when Catwoman explores the batsuit with her claws because she perfectly concealed her real intentions while Batman was really intimidated by her approach...

The actors and the story in returns was awesome.

Yeah, the machine guns on the batmobile were a bit too hollywood. I get it's Tim Burton and all, but Batman isn't meant to kill anyone intentionally -is he?

The thing about Batman Returns is... It's Tim Burton's version of Batman. It isn't a "Batman" film in a purist, or comic book sense... So complaining about Penguin not being business savvy and things of that nature are irrelevant. Almost nothing in this film was based on established Batman-comic mythos. (The Catwoman nine lives thing?) But it worked. If you take it for what it is, it's quite remarkable that the film was ever allowed to made that way. I think it's a testament to the art of filmmakers like Burton. Certainly, that film would not have been made in today's climate.

I think that Batman Return is the WORST Batman movie ever made ! Excuse but to fight with penguins in a Batman movie was the worst idea ever .

How can you say Batman Returns is WORST than Batman & Robin? That argument, in my opinion, would never hold any water.
