Second best Joker
the secon best joker(I know everybody would expect nicholson who was way overrated) was mark hamil who voiced the joker in batman animated.

Heath Ledger definitely, but I also loved the Mark Hamill version.

Of course, the late award winning holywood actor Heath Ledger is the best.I would say Dark Knight will not be that successful if joker was not there.
Cesar Romero
Hahahahahaaaah, you know I'm with Heath.

I don't get the overrated comment, watch it again, his performance was perfect. If he had a different director (not that I didn't like burton) it might have even topped ledger.
Whats with everyone all over the animated stuff its not acting (ok it is but) its just a voice and the two should not be compared.

Why? 'Cause you say so? Voice actors are fair game. I admit, it's hard for me to compare the efforts of Hamill's superbly spoken Joker with Nicholson's complete physical delivery. But, to rule out the possibility is pretty blatantly narrowminded. Could a Nicholson voice-acted Joker not possibly be better than a live action version by Sylvester Stallone? Yyyeah.

I really don't believe so. They are completely different species. Would a voice acted nicholson top a voice acted stallone, Honestly I don't know that one, My gut would say yes but really the cartoon is done to match the voice played by it so a voice acted stallone (animated, could possibly be award winning). They make the character to fit the narration. So its the artists perspective that actually makes those characters even in the animated.
Yes it does take talent and timing for the voices though.
I think they are just to different to compare on an even level. Anyone can be whoever they want when they are on the phone (remember the movie boiler room) But when in person, the whole deal thats when you see what someone truly is about.

I'd have to go with Hamill. Ledger was a decent Joker but in some ways seemed more like a generic villain with makeup than the Joker. Romero wasn't a bad Joker. He fit with the silver-age Joker of the time, though his appearance was terrible. Nicholson was great but not perfect, though he was probably the best live-action Joker, in my opinion.

Nicholson for me. Insane, funny, devious, homicidal... Ledger had him beat on the obsession Joker has with Batman... but I think Ledger took it a little too dark to be honest.
