There is already a thread similar to this, but instead of asking what villians there might be (assuming they intend to make a third at all,) I want to see what ideas some people have about how certain villians could be portrayed. For example, here's one of my ideas. Feel free to say it's stupid, as long as you enter your own to show how much better your idea is!

Character: The Riddler

A small time thief with an unnatural obssession for making clues to his crimes in the form of riddles, Edward Nygma sees the dance of the Joker and Batman and is compelled to greater crimes when he sees what the Joker can get away with. When the Joker is finally caught, Edward Nygma sees a gap in the criminal world that only he can fill. Like the Joker, Nygma creates a second identity for himself as the Riddler. As the crimes get larger to fill the in the gap left by the Joker, so does his compulsion to make riddles for them until he can no longer keep the riddles he makes to himself. Now he sends warning of his crimes to the police. Like his obssession with making larger and more complex riddles the Riddler's crimes grow in size until he decides to blow up Gotham itself.

Why the Riddler? Because he just seems perfect for the movies. He's a criminal who has a compulsion to write riddles for all his crimes, and the reason he does the crimes is because he likes to make riddles for them. I personally didn't like the last Riddler in the movies, because he seemed too childish (sorry Jim.) Plus, he didn't really leave riddles for his crimes. It would also be interesting to see him along side another villian who becomes annoyed at the constant riddles about the crimes.

it was meant to be the joker again in the next batman movie but due to heath dying and nobody being able to fill his shoes a new idea will be needed for a baddie for batman 3, if it is the riddler he won't be anything like the riddler from other movies/tv/comics he will be completely reinvented just like the scare crow and joker was.

I want it to be the Ventroloquist because he has never been done in the movies and I think he would add spice and freakiness to the movies. I want him, Joker, Catwoman, Harley and a young Dick Greyson in the next movie.

nolan has stated that while he is making batman there will be no robin/dick grayson he wants batman to be a lone vigilante.

I was thinking about the re-invention of the riddler and it came to me, he should have a much calmer attitude, almost annoyingly calm. and yes i agree with the guy above who said riddles need to be left at the crimes or at least a '?' sign as a kinda calling card.

So how about this, take the movie from a more pulp fiction/ swordfish esc point of view with the riddler played by Nicolous Cage (amazing in face off). His cool exterior attitude would just come off so well to re-invent the character the way it was always meant to be and without the ridiculousness of Jims incarnation.

And despite the fact that I think the riddler should be the next villan, I don't think neith Depp or Tennant are right foir the role, I think a actor such as Casey Affleck would be better suited to the role. This is because I have written a script / plotline to the next film which I think it sghould be like.

Anyhow just as the city is getting back on its feet, it is haunted by the ghost of the Joker, this is due to a mass killing which takes place in the citys world re-nound Labotory of Science and Chemistry, and sees each of the victims holding a sigle Joker Card in the hand. This immeadiately sens the city to break out in chaos and the Police Department led by Commisioner Gordon don't have any idea what to say to the public, and suspect that The Joker has ecaped, however after being informed that The Joker is still being detained with no chance of ever escaping, they are left dumb-bound. So as they try to re-esure the city's residences that they are doing everything the can to resolve the situation, they realise that the killing must be masterminded by a copycat like killer, who is imitating the persona and ways of the Joker played by Heath Ledger. So with no leads or clues except the fingerprintless cards sent back from the lab, Commisioner Gordon and his associates visit the Asylum in hopes of speaking with the Joker, thinking that he may be behind the killings or know anything that they don't, however they are refused to see him, trhis is due to the phycharists confirming them that the joker (heath Ledger) is suffering from delussions and paranior and is in no fit state to be interregated and that he will be like that for some time (that results in The joker never actually being see due to Heath Ledgers passing, however it does'nt make it sound unrealistic).

So eventually nailbombs are set off outside the police station, however the nail bombs also contain a pack of just joker cards, and so the city is fear stricken. This results in a public outcry and also an outcry from Commisioner Gordon for Batman to return to his throne as the Citys Cheif Vigilante. However Bruce Wayne is refusing to bow to the publics demands for Batman, this is due to him being in denial of whether Batmans deeds are actually heroic, this is because he feels he is to blame for the deaths of numerous citizens and their familees and so we for the first time actaully see Bruce having flashbacks to his parents death and him feeling that he is just the same as his parents killers becuase he belives that his parents killersripped him apart and turned him into what he is, and is guilt-ridden that he has done the same to the family members of those who have died due to Batmans carelessness or lack of control. However Alfred knows that Batman is the best thing for the city and so he attempts to guilt-trip or use reverse physchology on Bruce as a way of forcing him to return as Batman, and so he says, "Master Bruce if you don't mind me saying but I think you are right in no longer being Batman, I mean the last thing a desperate city crawling with filth needs is a hero". He says this knowing full well that this will play on Bruce's mind and cause him to review the actually meaning and hopes that Batman brings to those who are victims. And so he decides to wear the mask again and so he returns (he returns on top of the building inwhich the batlight is situated, this is due to Commisioner Gordon announcing on television that if Batman is ready to return he should meet him on the building at 00.00 hours). And so after Batman is told to have returned by Commisiioner Gordon, the papers are full with headlines such as, 'The Dark Knight Returns (which could also be the title of the film, due to batman returns being already used) and also 'The Joke is on you Joker No. 2'. So while the police and Batman wait for some form of information regarding the so called 'Baby Joker (puned by many newspaper writers)', the police station recieves a unaddressed parcel which is immediately opened by the bomb squad in a specail unit, the parcel is shown to contain a 'jack in the box' which is grafettied or donned with a riddle which states "Who Am I? which is then followed by a riddle which reads 'Look around, what do you see, I know you, do you know me?, I maybe one, two or three, can you solve this mystery?' this then is attempted to be solved by Gordon who suggest to Batman that there may be three murders due to the third line, however Batman uses his intelligence to suggest that someone who would copycat another person must have a low level of sanity and self estemm and so that person must be prone to switiching his or her personalities, and so he tells Gordon that he is certain there is only one criminal involved and that the crminal is one who suffers from Skitzopherinia more notebly multiple personality disorder. And so whle they try to work out the mystery bit Gordon suggests that 'Mystery' may be an anogram of somekind an so after failing to find a sutible name from the letters, Batman suggests that it may share a resemblance to a name, and so after a few attempts Gordon relises that mystery can also mean 'enigma' and that the name must be Myster-Enigma (Mr. Enigma) and so he rushes to the police department to search the records for a Mr. Enigma, however after no results, Batman suggest that it may be Mr. E. Nigma, and so after entering that into the database a missing person file is opened to reveal that a Mr. Edward Nigma has been missing since the xx/xx/xxxx, which was two days before the first murders at the lab of science and chemistry and also that he was previously fired form his job as the departments caretaker, on the grounds that he attempted to steal some of the equipment for his own aspiring home attempts to become a scientologist or whatever etc.. a story like that may work a few movies down the line but the next movie will have more of the detective in batman,also I think it will be set days or weeks after the dark knight so that we get to see batman having to evade the police and gordon having to make it look like he is trying to catch batman.

I think instead of her actually working at Arkam Asylum, she can be one of crazy people who are there, and escapes and seeing the death of the joker:eek::D

i say bring on the riddler, combined with additional scene with the joker (a stand in actor not ledger as thats impossible) and a sweet young Harley Quinzel who begins to fall for the jokers evil charms and intelligence. now all we need is a scene to indicate two-face is not dead so as to leave an opening for a 4th movies. Good idea but i suggest insted if the 'Baby Joker' being the riddler why not make it Harley Quinn a pshyciatric nurse at arkham that has fallen in love with the joker. it chould also inclued the riddler as the joker's brother, as you may already know the joker has no identity so why not make him a Nigma. so Harley and joker's brother edward are carrying on his work in atempt to scare gotham into tearing it self apart. in the meantime Harley and the Riddler could be braking johnathan crane out so he joins 'The Chaos Clan' (just a name i made up). what do u think about that stuff, pehaps?
