There have been many rumours that there will be a follow up of the dark knight movie , and that Christopher nolan the director of the past batman movies will come back once again to direct batman 3 and only for batman 3. Many have said that batman 3 might be named Arkham Asylum but some have said this is a rumour. The plot for batman 3 may seem pointless without the joker because of heath ledgers death but rumours have said robin the boy wonder might be a new character. Could this be true or a rumour?

I can't find the article, but i am sure that Christopher Nolan has ruled out Robin as a character. It really wouldn't fit in well with Nolan's batman universe, and may bring unfavourable comparisons with Batman Forever and Batman and Robin - both films were heavily panned.

Arkham Asylum is a great setting for a film, but not yet in this continuity. Who are the inmates? What has actually become of Arkham since the first film? At the end of Begins, Gordon claims that the narrows has been lost.

Arkham Asylum is, however, the title of a new videogame. Batman returns the joker to the asylum, only to spring a trap on the batman. Its not following the Nolan or year one continuities - it will feature Killer Croc and other characters. Also has Barbara Gordon, aka Oracle, giving instructions to Batman.

Arkham Asylum is the perfect title for part 3.

Arkham would be great for a batman film but not just yet. for the moment we should stick to the idea of batman putting vilains in Arkham first. I too have heard rumors of the next instalment to be named Gotham Knights and i believe it is in referance to introducing Robin, Batgirl or (and my personal favorite) Nightwing.
