Default How to do Joker makeup (Heath Ledger style)

I REALLY wanted to do this for Halloween this year, it would have been perfect timing, but alas I was completely broke and didn't know any makeup artists, so it didn't happen. I do think that most of the clothes could be got for cheap, though where in the hell you're going to find a bright purple sport coat is beyond me. I also had the idea of getting a bunch of those dummy hand grenades from a military surplus store and rigging the pins all up to strings and having them connect to a keychain I could put my thumb through and be like "nuh unh uhhhh!" a la the Joker scene with the gangsters in the beginning of the movie. Anyway, I found an article on this I thought you guys would be interested in: how to do joker makeup .

It really seems like you either need to know a professional makeup artist or be pretty skilled with makeup yourself, I don't know...then again, if you read that article they link to at the very bottom about how Ledger ended up choosing that look by basically doing it himself with some really simple makeup and then having the makeup artists on set recreate it every day, I suppose it can't be that hard...unless Ledger was already experienced with applying stage makeup to himself, which is a possibility since he was an actor.

The make up part is pretty easy, its getting realistic looking prosthetics for the scars. When we did my friend up, we used a mixture of commercial products and some creative DIY and came pretty darn close to getting the proper look!
